Inspired by the work of Art Deco artist Sonia Delaunay and founder Karen Ruimy’s home country, Morocco – Kalmar’s autumn/winter 2017 collection comprises pieces that are refreshingly versatile and undeniably luxurious.
The palette is warm and earthy, with rich burgundy and caramel popping against creamy white and sky blue. Traditionally masculine shirt stripes are rethought on feminine silks and contrasted with the exuberant romance of a hand-painted French Rococo floral motif.
These clothes are for the wearer to mix, match and layer at will. The collection is underpinned by effortlessness – note the pockets, hoods and loose collars that give a fresh, modern mood. These are designs that elevate, but never overwhelm; the Kalmar woman understands that the biggest luxury is to feel confident in herself.
